OSUM Psychology Club Upcoming Events
On Wednesday, January 18, Chuck Bulick, Director of the Marion Homeless Shelter, will talk about homelessness in the Marion Area.
The OSUM Psychology Club is an academic student organization open to anyone interested in becoming involved in activities relating to social science in everyday life. The Marion group has meetings at which speakers are invited to share ideas with members. We also go on field trips and help in community projects. The Psychology Club promotes school spirit by serving as needed. The organization has no formal prerequisites except to be interested in psychology and to be motivated to get involved. It is open to any student on campus. Students are encouraged to attend as many activities as possible, and contribute as much as they are able to the goals of the group. The club usually meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month in room 224 Morrill Hall.

Wednesday, September 28 at 12 noon, everyone is welcome to attend the organizational meeting of the OSUM Psychology Club. We invite psychology students and those interested to come and meet our newest faculty member. We hope to have refreshments. And we will elect officers and discuss upcoming events for the club. We will meet Dr. Patson-Huffman during the first half of the hour, and then elect officers the second half. Open to anyone interested in psychology. Room 224 Morrill Hall.
First meeting of the Psychology Club is Wednesday, September 28 at 12 noon in room 224 Morrill Hall. At this organizational meeting, we will discuss goals for the upcoming year, plans for Autumn Quarter, and get organized with selection of officers (President, Vice-President, and Secretary). Open to anyone interested.

Psych Club Talk on April 6 on "Hospice and Grief"
On Wednesday, April 6, Brenda Thompson, former OSUM student currently a grief counselor with Marion Hospice, will talk on "Hospice and Grief". The presentation will focus on how to cope with loss, and how to help others who are in the grieving process. She will also talk about the Marion Hospice, and opportunitites for students to volunteer. The meeting will be Wednesday, April 6 at 12noon to 12:45 in room 224 Morrill Hall. Wednesday, October 5 12 noon room 224 -- Paula Burnside from Turning Point will talk about the shelter for domestic violence in Marion and discuss how we can help raise awareness in community. Everyone interested is invited to learn more about domestic violence in Marion. We need volunteers to help them with levy campaign, please come and support our local domestic violence shelter.
On Wednesday, October 19 at 12 noon, the Psych Club will host an "open house" for students to learn about the psychology major and minor on the marion campus. Psychology faculty will be available to talk with students about possibilities for psychology majors. All students curious about what psychology is should plan to attend.
On Wednesday, November 2 -- Chuck Bulick, Director of the Marion Homeless Shelter, will talk with students about the shelter, what it does, and how they might get involved in a new internship program at the shelter.
