The OSUM Psychology Club is an academic student organization open
to anyone interested in becoming involved in activities relating
to social science in everyday life. The Marion group has meetings
at which speakers are invited to share ideas with members. We also
go on field trips and help in community projects. The Psychology
Club promotes school spirit by serving as needed and by raising
scholarship money.
The organization has no formal prerequisites except to be interested in
psychology and to be motivated to get involved. It is open to any student
on campus. Students are encouraged to attend as many activities as possible,
and contribute as much as they are able to the goals of the group.
The Psychology Club needs students to help with the planning, coordinating,
and carrying out the club activities. The executive committee consists of the
1) president, 2) vice-president, 3) secretary, and 4) members of the service,
education, and publicity committees. The officers should be able to work well
with other students, coordinate and participate in club activities, and be
committed to the club objectives. The president is the visible student figure,
and communicates with other student organizations. He or she is chair of the
education committee to organize and coordinate speakers and fieldtrips.
The vice-president stands in for the president whenever needed, and is chair of
the service committee to organize and coordinate service projects and other activities.
The secretary also helps with these duties, and in addition is in charge of keeping
club records of activities and members, and is chair of the publicity committee
to publicize events. The executive committee, along with other interested students
meet with the club faculty advisors to organize and plan activities.
If you would like to become a member of the Marion Campus Psychology Club this
year, please provide your name, address, email address, and phone. Bring it
to a meeting, place it in the Psychology Club mailbox in the Psychology
Laboratory (room 170C), or give it to an officer or club faculty advisor
(Terry Pettijohn). Notices of meetings and sign-up sheets for fieldtrips
will be posted on the Psychology Club Bulletin Board on the second floor and
will be posted on this website. Watch for our events. And please join us
whenever you can.
